    Searching for a self-driven, and strategic Chief Financial Officer to play a key role in the future growth and development of a food manufacturer in Fresno. The CFO leads and manages the overall financial and technology functions and will support all other functional areas including operations, product development, sales, marketing, business development and human resources through a team of functional peers.


    The ideal candidate will be a high energy executive with a strong work ethic and a fast moving, "get it done" style, while demonstrating the ability to be a responsible risk taker.
    • This individual will be a disciplined manager who understands effective financial processes and controls. He/she will have proven success in capturing, analyzing, interpreting, and effectively communicating the results and implications of financial and operational data.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills. A “quick study,” able to grasp complex issues facing the company and also make thoughtful, but timely decisions to balance the demands of developing and implementing short- and long- term programs to maximize shareholder value.

    Job Function

    The CFO directs and oversees all financial reporting, short and long-term financial planning, general and cost accounting, tax, banking and cash management. He/she represents the Company on financial accounting issues, ensuring that the Company meets all corporate, statutory and regulatory requirements. To achieve success in this high intensity, potentially rapidly growing environment, the CFO will need a broad array of financial, technical, managerial, and leadership skills.


    Essential functions:

    • Direct the activities of the company’s Finance, Accounting and IT team.
    • Develop and implement operating plans to align the business to market demand, thus ensuring delivery of earnings and cash generation targets.
    • Direct the development of the annual operating plan, capital budgets, and strategic plans; approves spending to budgetary levels.
    • Ensure strong working capital management by optimizing A/R, A/P and inventory levels.
    • Supervise the preparation of business intelligence for evaluating operations, identifying problems, and recommending/implementing corrective actions.
    • Provide guidance and advice to the President and Ownership as well as other members of senior management on financial and business issues.
    • Provide thought leadership in determining and driving the company's financial strategies and participate in setting the company's overall strategic direction.
    • Establish and maintain credibility throughout the organization, operations, and with the Ownership as a capable financial advisor and developer of solutions to business challenges.
    • Develop and implement financial strategies, objectives and business plans, including performance targets, policies and key metrics to achieve the Company’s overall business objectives.
    • Manage the company's capital structure, and provide leadership for obtaining and managing financing and investments.
    • Evaluate the impact on the organization of any regulatory requirements, including accounting changes or other emergent financial issues.
    • Provide timely and accurate analysis of budgets, forecasts, financial reports and operational trends to assist the President, Ownership, and other senior executives in performing their responsibilities.
    • Ensure appropriate controls and record-keeping procedures are in place to meet all statutory regulations, accounting standards, practices and audit requirements.
    • Implement and enforce financial policies and procedures that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the Company.
    • Participate in sales leadership by providing analytical support including appropriate metrics in support of sales decision-making process.

    Job Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree with 15 or more years of progressively responsible financial experience, preferably with a middle-market, major company or division of a large corporation.
    • Master’s degree in Business (MBA) is strongly preferred.
    • Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Managerial Accountant (CMA) or some other equivalent certification preferred.
    • Fluent in English; Spanish comprehension a plus
    • The individual must have proven success at teaming with a President and being accepted as a business partner with the top management team. An individual who is currently a CFO at either a public or private food processing company is preferred.
    • Proven commitment to ongoing skills development in leadership and human communications.
    • Demonstrated technical accounting strength as a finance leader of a company that has experienced turnaround, rapid growth and/or major change.
    • Senior-level financial experience in a manufacturing company is required, food processing preferred.
    • Must be highly skilled at standard costing and operational accounting.
    • Cash management skills and a successful record of dealing with lenders and bankers is important.
    • Record of success in situations involving transformation, rapid growth, and fast changing conditions.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of the finance, financial planning, accounting, compliance and tax aspects of private corporations.
    • Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, and developing and implementing new systems and procedures.
    • Experience in managing all IT functions is strongly preferred.
    • Demonstrated record of accomplishment in leveraging balance sheets, generating cash, and delivering earnings performance improvement in tough industries.
    • Experience in supporting a growing sales function.
    • The candidate will have proven record of accomplishment of successfully delivering increasing profitability and shareholder value over an extended period.
