  • Overview

    Searching for a self-driven and detail orientated individual with strong technical competence to oversee all Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs for a large dairy producer in the Central Valley, CA. 

     

    As the Vice President Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance, you will be the main liaison with regulatory bodies. Utilizing your experience as a seasoned Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance professional, you will develop, implement, communicate and maintain corporate Quality Assurance plans, processes, and procedures to ensure that the Company's Quality Systems and Policies comply with federal and state regulations.

    Job Function

    • Develop and implement standardized quality assurance and food safety programs across all facilities.
    • Mentor Quality Managers and Quality Supervisors and develop Quality KPIs for each location.
    • Manage monthly/yearly budgets to ensure cost controls and implement KPI's to track internal measurements
    • Present quality reports to senior management and Board members.
    • Serve as key statistical resource and verify product and process improvement through implementation and analysis
    • Audit facilities to ensure proper documentation and verification of procedures
    • Achieve and retain SQF Level III certifications across all sites
    • Manage FSMA compliance
    • Oversee Kosher certification program
    • Establish testing criteria and work with USDA, FDA, and CDFA to modify existing processes for improvements to efficiencies
    • Manage product testing, environmental testing, analytical testing and plant conditions at processing plants
    • Establish standards for all storage facilities to ensure controls are implemented to sustain finished product and ingredient integrity
    • Responsible for reporting and taking any necessary action to prevent food safety and food quality problems from occurring
    • Ensure consistent product specification, quality procedures and programs are maintained at each facility
    • Act as Recall Coordinator, should the need arise
    • Monitor Customer complaints and ensure proper correspondence and counter measures are completed
    • Investigate Technical issues to resolution
    • Review and validate specification changes for ingredients and finished products
    • Liaison for any finished product transitions between processing facilities
    • Liaison between sales groups and customers for product development and revisions to existing formulas
    • Travel up to 50% travel time
    • Perform other tasks as assigned.

    Job Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in microbiology, food science, or related field. Advanced degree is an added bonus.
    • Minimum of 10 years of progressive food safety/ quality assurance experience ideally within the dairy or related industry.
    • Experience implementing and maintaining quality assurance and food safety programs across multiple manufacturing sites.
    • SQF certified with experience implementing processes to elevate SQF ratings.
    • Experience with FSMA compliance
    • Experience working with USDA, FDA, CDFA.
    • Experience fostering a culture committed to food safety and quality.
    • Ability to lead and maintain the unwavering Quality and Food Safety standards of the Company.
    • Ability to establish priorities and a course of action for handling multiple tasks.
    • Meticulous, with strong leadership, management, organizational, and analytical skills.
    • Strong team player, while also being a strong individual and self-reliant contributor.
    • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, sales and finance.
    • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook, and SharePoint.
