    This is an exciting opportunity for a Paralegal to add direct value to a renewable energy company based in Visalia, CA. This is a high visibility position with a lot of autonomy.  You will work directly with the owners and external attorneys to evaluate legal ownership and establish authorization to progress with construction for numerous multi-million-dollar projects that are being built congruently throughout the Central Valley.  The ability to take initiative and work within an unstructured and fast-paced environment is critical.


    The paralegal is responsible for the review of title reports/title commitments and surveys pertaining to real estate transactions in support of lease agreements as well as piping construction. Representative title reviews include confirming ownership of the property by reviewing documents such as deeds, probate proceedings and heirship affidavits, and identifying potential adverse interests by reviewing documents such as mortgages, leases and easements. Representative survey reviews include confirming the legal description of the proposed project area, as well as related easements, and ensuring the presence of adequate access from the project to the upgrade facility in and out of public right of way and any encroachments. The paralegal is also responsible for reviewing ground leases, easements and deeds for acquisitions, among other functions.

    Job Function

    • Examines abstracts of titles, leases, contracts, and other legal documents to determine ownership of land, and gas, oil, and mineral rights: Draws up legal documents covering purchase and sale of land, and oil, gas, and mineral rights, drafts deeds and affidavits, and presents other evidence to meet legal requirements of documents.
    • Examines instruments and opinions prepared by other attorneys and advises officials of organization as to legal requirements in connection with titles.
    • Searches for and examines public records and writes opinions on titles.
    • Prepares cases for trial and tries or assists in trial of lawsuits involving titles to land, and gas, oil, and mineral rights.

    Job Requirements

    • Associate degree in paralegal studies or equivalent experience.  Exposure to the agricultural or renewable energy industry is an added bonus.
    • Ability to interact with people at all levels of the corporate structure, prioritize and handle numerous competing demands in a high-volume, fast-paced working environment
    • Proven ability to work effectively in independent settings
    • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of contacts including outside attorneys, senior management, and business associates
    • Excellent at multi-tasking
    • Available to work overtime and be on call as required
    • Manage various department projects and initiatives
    • Identify and resolve or escalate issues in a timely manner
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Word, Excel and PowerPoint
