  • Overview

    We are searching for an Engineering & Maintenance Manager (EMM) to oversee the maintenance team at privately held food ingredients manufacturer in Northern California. The EMM directs the work efforts of the Maintenance Team, reporting directly to the Plant Manager. The EMM is tasked to improve performance of productive equipment, preserve plant physical assets, and control maintenance labor and material costs to achieve plant performance goals. A successful EMM will increase the site operational effectiveness, improve on project delivery; implement programs that reduce downtime while managing and implementing improvement plans to driving Key Performance Indicators (KPI's). The EMM is an integral part of the companies Safety and Food Safety program.   

    Job Function

    • Development and implementation of a proactive maintenance program
    • Lead, Direct, and Schedule Maintenance personnel in all Plant Maintenance functions
    • Develop a proactive and robust preventative maintenance program
    • Planning, minor engineering & execution of plant capital projects
    • Collaborate with and manage 3rd party contracting firms
    • Plan, develop and collaborate with staff and management for implementation of Major Capital Projects
    • Plan and develop Quarterly, and Annual Maintenance PM’s & Capital addition Shut downs
    • Develop master maintenance schedule for daily and weekly preventive maintenance procedures
    • Management of Maintenance Parts Inventory and Supplies
    • Develop and maintain Annual Maintenance Budget
    • Develop and implement a maintenance and education program for all maintenance and fabrication staff
    • Responsible for Safety and Food Safety Compliant practices within the Maintenance Department
    • Review and provide recommendations for supplies/materials cost savings
    • Compare and determine best cost/quality options for all materials ordered
    • Maintain a positive and professional atmosphere for all employees and visitors
    • Ensure maintenance supply room operations are in accordance with approved procedures and company policy
    • Generate Standard Operating Procedures and forms as needed
    • Follow all safety rules and requirements, attending safety meetings, and tailgates
    • Delivery of objectives and disciplined leadership that is fair and balanced at all times

    Job Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in technical regimen preferred (Mechanical or Electrical Engineering)
    • 5+ years of experience in maintenance management in the food industry including supervisory experience
    • Technical Education working with VFD driven motors, PLC’s and I/O terminations
    • 5+ years of experience working with process and automation equipment.
    • Working knowledge of boiler and compressed air operations
    • Experience with fluid pump systems and solid conveyance systems
    • Experience with Auto CAD or similar design software preferred
    • Experience developing and maintaining CMMS maintenance tracking systems
