  • Overview

    We are searching for an Accounting Manager with a strong costing background to add direct value to a multi-billion-dollar agricultural company in Visalia.

     

    The Accounting Manager will lead the overall costing function at 5 different plants. You will oversee cost control systems, inventory closing, and valuation processes.  Manage and interpret variances, gather historical cost data, compare budgets with actual expenses, prepare costing reports and make recommendations for presentation to the executive team.  The Accounting Manager will also partner with operations personnel at both the corporate and plant level to create key metrics to achieve improvements in productivity and efficiency.  This position participates in the development of Bills of Materials and validates accurate costing for all finished good items.

    Job Function

     

    • Maintain and update standard cost modules
    • Provide analysis and reporting for Purchase Price Variance (PPV), VAVE, labor productivity and manufacturing variances
    • Maintains accurate information on item cards and works with purchasing to maintain proper costs with the ERP system.
    • Assist budgeting and forecasting process for Operations
    • Work closely with Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A), manufacturing and operations to resolve issues on cost and inventory
    • Compile product costs including direct labor, raw materials, and overhead on a semi-annual basis and sign off on final costing
    • Modifies and maintains Bills of Materials with the ERP system
    • Develops and maintains routings, work centers and other key processes used within the cost accounting process.
    • Verifies proper inventory valuation through valuation methodologies in accordance with GAAP and Company policies.
    • Perform variance analysis in Manufacturing against weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasts.
    • Ensure accurate and timely process of product cost roll-up and annual standard cost roll.
    • Perform trending, variance and ad hoc financial analysis as required.
    • Assist in special projects as necessary.
    • Motivate, mentor and manage cost accountants.
    • Create year over year cost reduction initiative with monthly reporting to target
    • Track and post weekly KPI’s
    • Participate in leadership meetings
    • Partner with all Manufacturing plants and Sales to ensure achievement of cost, productivity, accuracy, or timeliness objectives
    • Implements controls and process specifically related to costing and cost account functions. To include but not be limited to Costing Standards, variance calculation and the KPIs related to those areas.

    Job Requirements

    • Degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred. CMA highly desirable.
    • Minimum of 5 years of prior costing/inventory accounting experience.
    • Experience within the food industry preferred otherwise must have a strong background in cost accounting.
    • ERP software experience required.
    • Project management experience required with ability to assign tasks, monitor process, progress and results.
    • Track record of developing effective inventory management policies.
    • Proficient in MS Excel and other MS products is essential.
    • Attention to detail and ability and the ability to communicate with senior management.
