  • Overview

    As a key member of the executive management team, the Chief Financial Officer will report to the Chief Executive Officer and assume a strategic role in the overall management of the company. The CFO will have primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing, controlling and reporting all financial-related activities of the company. This will include direct responsibility at the corporate and business unit level for accounting, finance, strategic planning, financial planning and analysis, reporting, treasury and cash management, budgeting, forecasting, tax management, insurance and risk management, information technology, human resources, deal analysis and negotiations, partnership compliance and performance, private and institutional financing.  The CFO will interface directly with both the CEO and Chairman of the Board, and the company’s Board of Directors.

    Job Function

    • Develops and continuously evaluates the company’s short and long-term strategic financial objectives and plan.
    • Provides timely and accurate analysis and reporting of business performance versus budgets, forecasts and historical performance.
    • Directs and oversees all aspects of the Finance, Accounting, Treasury, Information Technology, Human Resources, and Risk Management functions of the company.
    • Oversees the company’s multiple business unit finance functions.
    • Evaluates and advises on the impact of long-range planning, regulatory actions, and the introduction of new strategies and businesses.
    • Establishes and maintains strong relationships with senior executives and business unit general managers to identify their needs and provide business solutions.
    • Provides executive management with advice on the financial implications of business activities and strategies to enhance business performance.
    • Manages the company’s strategic planning, budgeting, financial forecasting, and reporting.
    • Ensures effective internal controls are in place and compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting.
    • Oversees the company’s human resources department, ensures regulatory compliance, and manages compensation programs.
    • Manages the company’s strategic business investments and its relationship with banks and lenders.

    Job Requirements

    • BS in Accounting or Finance, MBA and/or CPA highly desirable.
    • 15+ years in progressively responsible financial leadership roles, preferably in farming. 
    • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization and with staff at remote locations.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
    • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
