  • Overview

    We have an exciting opportunity to work as the VP Engineering for a new renewable technology company based in the Central Valley, CA. The VP Engineering will manage the development, operation, and financial aspects of the organization's construction projects and manage a team of 6 direct reports.

    Job Function

    • Directs construction functions and sequences of work to obtain optimum utilization of contractors and equipment to meet cost/schedule/quality projection.
    • Oversees and monitors contracted purchasing activities of raw materials, equipment, machinery, and supplies in the execution of construction project.
    • Direct job cost analysis to ensure budget adherence for each project.
    • Negotiates labor, equipment, material, and overhead costs to determine which bid selections will satisfy grant and equity requirements.
    • Lead both clients externally and project team members internally. Experience with responsibility for leading, supporting and managing a skilled staff and consultants. 
    • Verify contractor adherence to safety regulations and permit requirements, and verify labor and wage laws are strictly followed.

    Job Requirements

    • Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering, Process Engineering, or related field
    • 10-15 years of experience within utility construction (electrical and natural gas) and working knowledge of construction codes
    • Agricultural or dairy experience strongly preferred
    • Experience managing $100MM+ in construction projects
    • Track record of developing high performing teams through mentoring, accountability and providing ongoing and constructive feedback.
    • Strong interpersonal and leadership communication skills with the ability to utilize influencing skills effectively in a cross-functional environment.
    • Experience with solar farm construction a bonus
