    We are searching for an Operations Manager with startup experience to join a global ingredients company and play a key role in the integration of a newly acquired protein facility in the Midwest. 


    This is an exciting opportunity to build your own team and implement processes to achieve optimum operating performance consistent with the corporate philosophy, business strategies and operating plans.


    This is a highly visible position with significant room for advancement in a growing business with plans for further expansion.  Competitive base salary, bonus, benefits and relocation assistance will be provided.

    Job Function

    • Lead operations management team to consistently and reliably meet the operating plan.
    • Develop site budget for all spend except maintenance, phased for seasonality and expected output.
    • Create, execute, and report on action plans to drive out variances on a monthly basis. Forecast variances in future periods.
    • Report on plant output and communicate concerns regarding future delivery to site leadership.
    • Review SKU specific production plan to ensure viability of the plan, and validate that resources are adequately deployed to deliver it.
    • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of all Quality metrics and incidents to all relevant leadership and agencies.
    • Represent the Company to 3rd party agencies and customer auditors.
    • Use Root Cause Analysis, Failure Mode and Equipment Analysis, and 3P tools to prevent future or recurring failures, and injuries or incidents.
    • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of all EHS metrics and incidents to all relevant leadership and agencies.
    • Drive Near Miss Team performance in each unit.
    • Participate in the Site Safety Steering Committee
    • Continuously drive improvement initiatives to reduce cost and increase efficiency.
    • Identify opportunities to streamline operations to increase output, reduce waste, and lower costs.
    • Identify technologies and methodologies in the greater industry that apply to the site, and develop strategies for implementation.
    • Coordinate with Supply Chain, Engineering and Maintenance to remove obstacles and drive continuous improvement.
    • Liaise with Process Technology to coordinate product scale ups and technology transfer.
    • Set strategy, KPIs, and deliverables for continuous improvement toward 100% first pass quality and to become an injury free workplace.

    Job Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably Engineering or Food Science, from an accredited university
    • 5+ years of experience in a senior leadership role within the Protein Industry.
    • Strong people leadership skills with a proven ability to lead and motivate an organization as well as foster positive relationships across the organization.
    • Experienced HAZOP Leader or participant.
    • Demonstrated commitment to the promotion of a safe, empowered work environment and GMPs.
    • Knowledge of OSHA and FDA regulations.
    • Strong computer skills.
    • Excellent Project Management skills and experience.
