  • Overview

    We are searching for a Quality Control Manager to perform the supervisorial functions of setting objectives, planning, organizing, staffing, and integrating the work of the Q.C. Department with other departments in each plant.  The QC Manager will also supervise the Plant Sanitarian. and use measurements of results to improve current performance and future planning in accordance with the furtherance of the company’s objectives and policies.  
     

    Job Function

    • Ensures the Safe Quality Foods (SQF) System is running in accordance with food safety management system.
    • Represent the company as one of the SQF Practitioner. 
    • Responsible for all of the food safety audits including SQF, FDA, Customer Audits or any other governmental agency audit. 
    • Assist the Customer Service Department with customer inquiries, claims, customer visits (traveling maybe required) and supplier approval processes. 
    • Trains, supervises, and assists lab technicians in areas of product weight control, record keeping, proper lab procedure and grading techniques.
    • Performs daily sanitation, pest control and good manufacturing practices inspections.  
    • May instruct sanitation crew on proper sanitation techniques, including but not limited to safe, effective and efficient utilization of chemicals.
    • Ensure compliance with all customer specifications, U.S.D.A. and F.D.A. requirements for each product processed.
    • May participate in R&D, new product testing and development as requested.
    • Maintains accurate quality records, employee manning records and other data as requested.
    • Directs compliance with plant quality and sanitation regulations.  This may include stopping, slowing or delaying production line to insure proper product quality or sanitation.
    • Estimates lab technician manning requirements to achieve daily production grading:  orders daily lab technicians’ crews, supervises and trains crews as required.
    • Performs other tasks as may be requested.
    • Manage a total of ten employees in the Quality Control Department.  Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

    Job Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four year college or university; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
    • SQF Practitioner, FSMA or FSPCA and HACCP training is preferred.   
    • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. 
    • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. 
    • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public. 
    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
    • English/Spanish bilingual preferred
