  • Overview

    We are searching for a self-driven Group Controller (Operations) to lead a team of 4 Plant Controllers at a large dairy processor in California.

     

    This is a highly visible position, reporting into the VP Finance with a dotted line into the SVP Manufacturing, as you will be the key financial leader for the operations staff across multiple manufacturing facilities. This person will manage the budget process, improve standard costing, streamline financial reporting and eliminate inefficiencies, such as reducing the month-end close.  The Group Controller will also play a critical role in an ERP system implementation.

    Job Function

    • Provide direct supervision and leadership to the Plant Controllers and their collective staff at each manufacturing facility
    • Document accounting processes as they relate to plants. Ensure that processes are consistent throughout the company and the proper level of controls are in place
    • Facilitate the month-end process as it relates to operations and the plant accounting teams
    • Assist the VP-Finance and the FP&A Manager in the development of the annual budget
    • Coordinate monthly financial reviews with each plant to discuss variances to budget and prior year
    • Assist the Corporate Cost Accountant in the development of product standard costs
    • Be the primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) for plant accounting processes in the ERP Implementation Project

    Job Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance. Master’s Degree and/or CPA preferred but not required.
    • 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience within food manufacturing.  Dairy experience desirable.
    • Experience assisting senior leadership to develop the annual budget and conduct monthly variance analysis at each site.
    • Track record of establishing controls to improve standard costing and financial reporting.
    • Prior involvement in an ERP system upgrade or implementation is highly desirable.
    • Strong leadership, communication and presentation skills. 
    • Excellent analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills.
