  • Overview

    This is an exciting opportunity for a Scheduler/Production Planner to add direct value to a rapidly growing food ingredients manufacturer in Northern California.

     

    The Scheduler/Production Planner is responsible for planning and managing production schedules to meet customer delivery requirements, to best utilize the company’s productive capacity and manage inventory levels.

    Job Function

    • Scheduling of production for manufacturing plant across a broad range of products and customer requirements (Crush, Lecithin and Refining)
    • Responsible for developing, coordinating and communicating the daily production schedule, including the creation and release of work orders
    • Schedule production, factoring in work orders, maintenance, new product development, inventory availability and capacity planning
    • Measure performance of all critical factors to ensure compliance to plans, including publishing of KPI’s.
    • Take the lead in resolving issues when products are behind schedule or at risk of being behind schedule
    • Maintain the ERP system integrity to drive material and production schedules and execute processes per requirements
    • Owns production orders from start to finish, recording time and output and troubleshooting any discrepancies immediately, with a common goal of correcting the problems. Accurate and timely completion of production orders
    • Provides effective communication of the production plan between internal stakeholders – customer service, sales, procurement and production teams
    • Communicate with production team in a proactive manner regarding capacity and shift loading to efficiently meet production/sales requirements
    • Key stakeholder on MRP development project, defining expectations and workflow processes.
    • POC for production and process inputs, supply and inventory (Process Aids, Additives, Packaging, Etc.)
    • Provide meaningful reporting and analysis that interprets data and communicates information that is useful for decision making
    • Work as lead of the MRP team in maintaining targeted inventory levels for the business, including planning the consumption of commodities per goals of the business
    • Utilize MRP tools to provide detailed purchasing plans & schedules to procurement management
    • Monitor and report inventory levels within the organization to ensure overall inventoried items are at acceptable levels
    • Provide weekly commodity position reports to management
    • Work closely with supply chain/procurement team and sales to get input on forecast changes/adjustments
    • Prepare and maintain packaging plant’s production schedule.
    • Work closely with customer service and sales to minimize packaged goods inventory levels and prevent aged out inventory.
    • Create a rolling (6 month) master production plan for designated customers and products.

    Job Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years master scheduling experience with ERP software in a food processing / manufacturing environment
    • APICS certification
    • 2+ years as an Excel power user with demonstrated proficiency working with pivot tables and analysis of large data sets. Ideally versed in optimization modeling (e.g., solver).
    • High level of detail, multi-tasking, analytical, and problem-solving skills with intuition to create solution.
