  • Overview

    The person in this position directs all feed mill operations, maintenance, safety, and product quality control of finished feeds and various inbound products.  The feed mill manager supervises all full and part time employees to accomplish these responsibilities and will be measured by their ability to lead a team in increasing efficiency while maintaining OSHA and FSMA compliance. The position is located in Neosho, MO and reports to the Operations Director. 

    Job Function

    • Efficiently coordinate production practices with operations crew and communicate effectively with logistics teams, operations management, and sales and marketing in order to consistently meet customer requirements.
    • Maintain Safe Feed/Safe Food procedures and certification and follow all current GMPs.
    • Maintain accurate inventory balances and monitor quality control to meet customer specifications.
    • Test and summarize quality control data and share with GM and Operations Director.
    • Interview, hire, and train employees in the operation of mixing systems, pre-weigh, pelleting, rail receiving, and weigh master duties.  Conduct monthly safety training classes with staff.
    • Schedule daily production and manage employee shifts and hours of operation in order to produce feed efficiently and cost effectively.
    • Lead the entire team at the location; support their growth and development.
    • Observe OSHA, state, and federal safety regulations; maintain equipment and facilities regularly; follow housekeeping standards keeping facilities neat and clean.
    • Assist with budget planning, capital projects, and future enhancements to the facility.

    Job Requirements

    • 5+ years feed mill supervisory experience preferred; exposure to batch feed manufacturing, pelleting, flaking.
    • High level of detail, multi-tasking, analytical, and problem solving skills with intuition to create solution.
    • Positive, self-motivated individual with organization, communication, and negotiation skills.
    • Communication skills – listen, provide feedback both verbally and in writing.
    • Teamwork skills – build a positive work environment.
    • Leadership skills – demonstrate passion for the job and build the vision for the future.
    • Strong customer service commitment.
    • College degree in Feed Science or Milling Science is a plus.
