  • Overview

    Work in all assigned areas of the facility to learn all skills and overall operations and business management of a facility in conjunction with the local management team to ensure we are on task to deliver the company commitment to Right Product, Right Time, Right Place. Additionally learn and engage in the Safety program to be recognized as a safety leader in the assigned facility and Region.

    Job Function

    Operations Manager Responsibilities:

    1. Work in all assigned areas to learn all hourly skills including but not limited to:

    • Safety expectations of all personnel
    • Housekeeping
    • Unloading, both truck and rail
    • Loading commodities and processed feeds
    • Mixing 
    • Pelleting
    • Warehouse – Ingredient ordering and bagging
    • Maintenance – basic understanding including the PM program. 

    2.  Learn the processes and expectations within operating plan and company policies.   

    • Safety   
    • Hiring   
    • Training   
    • Accountability   
    • FSMA 

    3.  Work in concert with assigned mentor to plan and coordinate plant and capital requirements to ensure facility is prepared to meet operating objectives   

    • Operating plan   
    • Repairs and Preventive Maintenance   
    • Manage capital projects   
    • Prudent and effective control of operating expenses 

    4.  Work with the assigned Mentor to learn how to ensure operations are coordinated effectively   

    • Coordinate Administrative function   
    • Coordinate Scheduling   
    • Coordinate Operations 

    5. Handle assigned production to ensure the facility has an effective safety culture, is efficient and is highly focused on product quality.

     

    Supervisory Responsibilities:                      
     1. Ultimately, gain experience to supervise the day-to-day operations of the plant and administrative staff at the assigned facility.

    Job Requirements

    • Minimum college diploma; with 0 to 1 year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
    • Knowledge of Internet software, Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
    • Must be able to lift 50 pounds. 
    • Must be able to climb ladders. 
    • Must be able to run equipment
