  • Overview

    We are searching for a self-driven and detail orientated Project Engineering Manager to lead the Capital Project Implementation and Process Improvement initiatives for an ingredients processor in Minneapolis, MN.  

    Job Function

    • Ensure that Safety is the highest priority on the Job Site.
    • Develop a Technical Engineering Team to support continued investment in a Growing Business
    • Develop and maintain project plans and coordinate project activities; track critical path milestones, accomplishments and results. Ensure that end-to-end project planning, risk identification, dependency tricking, issues identification / escalation, and change management are being managed appropriately through team resources, utilizing best practice project management standards
    • Lead major project to include overseeing that the Project Teams identify all equipment capabilities, utility & infrastructure requirements, and developing Process Flow Diagrams and layout concepts.
    • Regularly inspect installation activities at client sites to ensure proper installation of all intended project designs; appropriate contractor management is place including adherence to client safety measures.
    • Standardize project execution process.
    • Support site start-up team and troubleshoot issues when they arise. If required, work with vendor technicians to remediate issues.
    • Understand food plant Good Manufacturing Processes (GMPs), area designations, clean design requirements and the impact to process and equipment layout designs.
    • Develop and commercialize production of new process technology.
    • Provide the Technical Proficiency to collaborate with Overall Team, and Customers to provide Protein and Ingredients Solutions to meet Market demands.
    • Position will primarily be located at the Minnesota Plant site. There is also an expectation of periodic travel to the other manufacturing sites in the Northern Midwest States.

    Job Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering/technical discipline with a background in the food manufacturing or CPG industry.
    • Background in Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing and familiarity with OSHA, GMP, PMI and PSM.
    • Proven track record executing technical engineering projects with direct involvement in design through to construction.
    • Experience defining and leading project execution under multiple contracting strategies (i.e., Lump Sum, TM, Cost Plus, Unit Price, Turn Key, etc.).
    • Demonstrated project fundamentals (i.e., cost / schedule tracking, change management, risk identification, options analysis, etc.).
    • Prior experience creating and delivering budgets and capex projects with a focus on cost saving initiatives.
    • Experience leading multiple technical disciplines, as well as suppliers / vendors.  Experience negotiating with contractors and supervising construction and equipment installation.
    • Ability to work as part of a team, with the capability to manage, communicate, and influence key stakeholders.
    • Proficient in Microsoft applications and other project management software applications.
