  • Overview

    We are searching for a Plant Manager to direct all functions of a rapidly expanding food processing plant in Minnesota.  You will oversee QA & Safety, Maintenance / Reliability, Production and Scheduling.  This is a highly visible position and will act as the key liaison between the executives and all operations personnel, providing statistical data and ensuring key targets are met to achieve optimum plant performance.

    Job Function

    • Provide the Leadership to Develop and Manage a Team that delivers results required for Operation’s Success.
    • Assure Programs are in place that Result in Zero Safety and Environmental incidences for the Operations.
    • Assure Programs are in place for Operations that result in being viewed by Customers as thee foremost Reliable Supplier in the Protein Industry.
    • Provide the Technical Proficiency to collaborate with Overall Team, and Customers to provide Protein Solutions to meet Market demands.
    • Provide the Technical Proficiency to Develop Competitiveness Programs to assureOperations maintains its position as the Leader in Ingredient Supply.
    • Responsible for Day to Day Operations to meet customer needs, production plan and production cost budget.
    • Provide overall plant leadership and guidance.
    • Responsible for operating within specified monthly budget.
    • Responsible to develop a Self-reliant Manufacturing Team.
    • Develop 3-5 year cost reduction / operation improvement programs.
    • Develop / review programs with Quality / Analytical team leader to ensure plant quality targets are achieved.
    • Develop / review programs with Maintenance / Safety team leader to ensure plant safety and operational reliability targets are met.

    Job Requirements

    • BA or BS in Mechanical, Civil or Chemical Engineering with a background in the food ingredients processing industry.
    • 7+ years of progressive production management, engineering, project management and leadership experience.  New business startup / expansion experience is an added bonus.
    • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma is a plus.
    • Demonstrated ability to integrate safety into manufacturing activities.
    • Track record of troubleshooting complex technical problems and building high-performing teams.
    • Experience managing suppliers / vendors and contract negotiation.
    • Skilled in budget cost estimating, and fiscal management.
    • Knowledge of Distributed Control Systems.
    • Familiarity with processing unit operations, such as centrifuges, powder handling and packaging systems, batch reactors, multi-stage evaporation, drying equipment, tanks and vessels, process and utility piping, heat exchangers, boiler utility systems (e.g. steam, compressed air), pumps, and valves desired.
    • Ability to work as part of a team, with the capability to manage, communicate, and influence key stakeholders.
