  • Overview

    We are working on an exciting opportunity for a Regional EHS Manager to develop and implement various occupational safety, food safety, and environmental programs in the Northeast Region for one of the largest feed manufacturers in North America.  The Regional EHS Manager will work closely with the Regional General Manager and Corporate EHS Director (dotted line), as well as individual Plant Management and employees, to help develop, implement, and monitor these programs. 

    Job Function

    • Work with the Corporate EHS Director to learn and understand the safety, DOT and environmental regulations which form the basis of the regulatory programs.  Provide input on the development of new company programs.
    • Use the company's computer based safety management system to enter plant specific information, safety training, proactive safety incidents, hazards identified, and corrective actions.
    • Read and understand multiple safety, transportation and environmental programs and be able to explain their requirements to local management and employees.  Work with Plant and Transportation management and employees to develop strategies to comply with the programs.
    • Conduct monthly employee safety training using company training material augmented with relevant site specific information during multiple shifts. Conduct new employee safety training for all permanent and temporary employees. 
    • Conduct periodic facility audits to confirm safety programs are being implemented.   
    • Conduct and coordinate incident investigations when safety or environmental incidents occur.
    • Regularly communicate and meet with Corporate, Regional, Operations, Plant and Transportation management regarding the status of safety and environmental programs and managing priorities.
    • Coordinate FSMA efforts in the Northeast
    • Provide input as a member of the Region Management Team 

    Job Requirements

    • 10+ years of experience managing EHS programs across multiple sites within the feed or grain processing industry.
    • Demonstrated experience providing leadership and training on safety or environmental programs. 
    • Knowledge of OSHA standards for grain and feed handling facilities required. 
    • High School Diploma, College Degree preferred.
    • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail.
    • Ability to communicate with management and peers.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Outlook.
    • Strong ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
