    Exciting opportunity for an Ingredients Merchandiser to join a vertically integrated feed and dairy company based in the Central Valley of California. 

    Job Function


    • Make any/all effort to purchase quality product at the lowest price.
    • Ensure/monitor logistics of product movement to maintain optimum pipeline inventory.
    • Ensure optimization of product quality. Work with origins as needed in order to obtain discounts where appropriate should incoming product fail to meet specifications.
    • Monitor positions within position limits except when authorized to exceed.
    • Police contract balances to ensure appropriate movement of purchase/sales.
    • Be aware of value at risk at any given time and communicate same to supervisor.
    • Maintain monthly P&L estimate procedure.
    • Prioritize time on a daily basis with a focus on earning profit.
    • Continually seek feedback regarding competitor activity and related market information.
    • Seek to know consumer’s ideas regarding commodity purchases.
    • Communicate market related information.
    • Work in concert with Credit department in order to ensure to greatest degree possible that credit has been vetted for any/all sales (specifically as regarding sales made by you through a third party broker). You are responsible to confirm credit worthiness prior to writing the sale.
    • Coordinate daily with Dispatch Department to ensure that trucks have liquidity at all times in order to ensure optimum product movement.
    • Provide timely release numbers to dispatch such that dispatch can plan their scheduling at least one day in advance in order to ensure maximum efficiency.
    • Strive to ensure proper and prompt flow of documents from third party origins to our Accounting Department such that invoicing can take place in a prompt fashion.



    Job Requirements

    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
    • Bachelor’s degree in purchasing, accounting, or related field preferred.
    • Minimum of three to five (7-10) years of purchasing experience.
    • Previous experience in manufacturing related purchasing.
