  • Overview

    Exciting opportunity to build the sales strategy for the specialty products team targeting North American pet food manufacturers and co-packers.

    Job Function

    • Develop sales plan and strategic accounts within the pet food co-pack and manufacturing industry.
    • Implement and manage account-specific strategies to target new accounts and increase business in existing accounts. Diversify the customer base to include high volume, profitable accounts.
    • Using analytical and negotiation skills, manage all aspects of sales contracts, risks and freight movement, as well as maintain an up-to-date knowledge of market trends and competitor activity
    • Provide weekly field activity reports and or trip reports to supervisor highlighting account activities, opportunities, and risks.
    • Travel to industry tradeshows and association events to broaden customer base.

    Job Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree and proven track record in selling specialty ingredients to pet food manufacturers and co-packers within the US and Canada.
    • Existing relationships and accounts in the animal feed market.
    • Experience selling chickpeas, yellow peas, green peas, red lentils, flax, durum and malt barley added bonus.
    • Understand the requirements for multiple pet food companies from a quality assurance point of view and logistics point of view.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills utilizing consultative and value-added sales principles
