    Searching for a self-motivated General Manager to oversee a team of 6 direct reports and 100+ employee facility in South Carolina.  The purpose of this role is to generate significant profitable and sustainable volume primarily from pet food manufacturers.


    We expect this position will attract strong candidates due to the company’s growth trajectory, and the ability and visibility this individual will have to influence strategy, revenue, and income.

    Job Function

    The General Manager is responsible for daily oversight of the production operations through proper leadership and direction of the site Production Supervisors. This position will also be directly responsible for leading the advancement or production operations and to ensure that each shift manufactures materials in accordance with all Company Procedures, approved product specifications, and all quality testing and/or machine specific procedures. The position will be a liaison between the manufacturing operations and all other internal teams to ensure our customer expectations have been met in a timely and cost-effective manner. The Plant Manager will help develop, implement and train programs in the health and safety area to ensure the safetof all personnel and ensure that operations in compliance with GMP and regulatory requirements.



    • During the facility build, the general manager will provide guidance to work crews on several projects and oversee scheduling and pricing.
    • Responsible for Safety, Security, Health and regulatory programs on site including, but not limited to, Process Safety Management/Risk Management plans, emissions permitting and reporting, and support of ongoing safety improvements.
    • Establishes and maintains strong relationships with key decision makers at pet food manufacturers and suppliers.
    • Collaborates effectively with peers across his/her company including Finance, QA/Food Safety, Logistics, Human Resources and Operations to achieve financial commitments.
    • Responsible for supervising/developing direct reports in areas of Production, Engineering, Maintenance, and Warehouse operations.
    • Directs and approves production schedules to meet the demands of the business.
    • Oversees plant performance metrics and is responsible for continuous improvement activities at the site. Develops and tracks Key Performance Indicators and improvement plans against them.
    • Directs the proper hiring and training of all employees.
    • Prepares and submits the timely delivery of activity and monthly reports to keep Senior Management and others informed about the status of plant activities.

    Job Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree engineering, business, or related discipline. An MBA is a plus.
    • 10+ years of experience with at least 5 years of progressive plant management roles at pet food, animal feed or human food ingredients companies.  Exposure to commercial construction preferred
    • Experience in building and managing high-performance Production, Engineering, Maintenance and Warehouse teams is preferred.
    • Prior responsibility for managing overall operating expenses, capital projects and expenditures, and budgets.  
    • Proven ability to maintain an excellent working relationship with architects, engineers, owners, and construction managers. 
    • Background in LSS and experience implementing plant performance metrics for continuous improvement activities preferred.
    • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.
