  • Overview

    Seeking a self directed, experienced Cost Accounting Controller to undertake all aspects of cost accounting, financial reporting, budget and job costing preparation, as well as development and oversight of internal control policies and procedures. 

    Job Function

    • Manage cost accounting department for a premier Agriculture company; develop policies, procedures and controls to ensure the integrity of the financial results including the planning, budgeting and reporting of operations.
    • Supervise cost accounting, including financial planning and analysis, cost and grower accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll. This individual will be responsible to ensure that all policies, controls, and process improvement activities are successfully completed to support operational requirements.
    • Partner with operations, to ensure accurate and effective inventory control and cost accounting processes, systems and procedures. The Cost Controller should have an operations focus, tailoring financial reporting to support decision making. Financial information and reports should be relevant and timely.
    • Provide weekly accurate job cost reports and compare to budgeted amounts analyzing and reporting any variances.
    • Provide analytical and well documented reports for management team on weekly/monthly and end of season basis. 
    • Present job cost information in “dashboard” format to Owners and Managers.
    • Maintain cost accounting staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.

     

     

    Job Requirements

    • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or equivalent is required
    • 5+ years of overall combined cost accounting and finance experience.
    • Solid understanding of cost accounting, margin analysis and the ability to develop a system of
    • management cost reports.
    • Knowledge and proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, electronic mail, FAMOUS, Google
    • Apps, Smartsheet, Evernote and other word and spreadsheet programs.
    • This role will require travel to the company's areas of operations up to and including overnight travel as
    • needed (travel 25% to 35% of the time ).
    • Bilingual in Spanish preferred
    • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
    • Experience with creating job costing spreadsheets
    • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process.
