    We are working on an exciting opportunity for a VP Finance to add direct value to a food manufacturer in Modesto.  As the VP Finance, you will act as a key member of the Leadership Team, develop a team of 5 and oversee all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, and FP&A for a growing business.

    Job Function

    • Manage all day-to-day accounting and finance functions and interface with outside vendors for finance, treasury, audit, tax, risk, legal, municipal relationships and other related functions
    • Oversight of all GL Accounting activities and reporting including all cost and inventory accounting functions
    • Implement, document and maintain adequate and effective internal controls
    • Oversee the monthly close activities to ensure timely and accurate reporting of all accounts including cost of goods, inventory, and related variances. Ensure corrective actions are taken to address root cause issues.
    • Assure timely and accurate financial reporting in compliance with GAAP, IFRS and other regulatory, tax jurisdiction, or lender requirements
    • Lead the development of the annual budget with clear and sound assumptions and provide clear & concise tracking vs the budget. Involve key personnel to ensure accuracy and buy-in with department budgets. Develop standard cost updates and planned variances.  Lead subsequent quarterly outlooks and monthly forecasts.
    • Compile and analyze financial results, while providing an accurate explanation and justification of budgets, forecasts, and long-range plans.
    • Create tools, processes, and systems to measure financial and operational information in order to drive performance metrics against the annual budget and to evaluate and assess the long-term strategy of the company.
    • Provide analysis and recommendations surrounding key metrics and their impact on the business, status and results of ongoing operations, and the financial condition of the organization including cash flow analysis and forecasts. Analyze and track marketplace trends.
    • Maintain and improve internal controls and financial procedures, and coordinate annual financial audits and preparation of all tax returns and documentation.
    • Assure adequate liquidity for continued operations and planned expenditures
    • Establish the appropriate policies and procedures to meet and support the Company’s long and short-term objectives
    • Provide timely and effective communications with executive team and investors on business results and dynamics
    • Establish and manage credit policy and oversee collections, manage any security risks.
    • Assess accounting practices and financial reporting package, identify any weaknesses, and execute improvements
    • Effectively manage, mentor, develop and motivate accounting team including all direct and indirect reports
    • Proactively identify and address business improvement opportunities including cost reductions and working capital improvements

    Job Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting with 10+ years of progressive experience within accounting, control and financial operations roles.
    • Prior experience at a Controller or VP Finance level within a food manufacturing company is preferred. Experience with seasonality is an added bonus.
    • Hands-on, bottom line oriented, operational focus in addition to broad financial acumen with a strong understanding of standard costing and ERP systems.
    • Private equity or M&A transaction and integration experience is a plus but not required.
    • Must have a track record of both strategic and tactical achievement. Demonstrated success in driving change and/or leading a transformation is critical.
    • Extensive and current knowledge of principles and practices associated with accounting, inventory management, cost accounting, financial analysis, systems and information technology initiatives.
    • Proven experience of implementing systems and processes to provide key operating metrics to senior management and board members.
    • Experience recruiting, developing, retaining, leading, inspiring and motivating a team.
