    Seeking a National Account Manager to implement the sales strategy to deliver new item placement, increase volume and maximize account profitability for branded and private label products at a mid-sized food manufacturer in Ohio.


    This position will lead private label and branded business initiatives with key accounts, brokers and distributors.

    Job Function

      Sales Development

    • Identify new customer growth opportunities for the Company in private label and branded businesses
    • Manage retail distributors and brokers and make both HQ calls on national and regional retailers
    • Identify and communicate ways for customer to increase sales of our portfolio of products
    • Promote the Company and develop its brands/services through organic customer growth and new business development opportunities
    • Effectively manage a balance of trade and consumer promotions to drive growth
    • Align with Sales Director on current events in the market place and key opportunities
    • Build strategic relationships with key buying influencers within our customers
    • Implement key account strategies and report quarterly on progress
    • Assist with evaluation of business partners and assessment of results
    • Leverage key learnings across customers and broker partners to drive sales growth in other regions, markets and customers 


    Sales Maintenance Duties

    • Lead the development, presentation and review of annual business plans for key customers
    • Deliver solution-based sales presentations to key customers, while supporting the presentation efforts to secondary customer tier through manufacturer sales representatives or brokers
    • Work within the matrix environment to leverage internal resources and to deliver a successful team approach to account management
    • Report on vendor scorecards and communicate areas of excellence and solutions for improvement
    • Maintain goodwill with assigned accounts, checking on customer satisfaction with our customer service, product quality, trade plans and Marketing goals
    • Work with distributors to ensure flawless execution of in-store merchandising and consistent order fulfillment meeting customer expectations
    • Assist customers with promotional activities and connect Marketing to outside vendors utilized for point of sales, digital or any deviations from existing programs
    • Align trade budgets for promotional activity with the Marketing budgets
    • Leverage slotting funds for consumer driven (pull) initiatives at store level to increase trial and sell through
    • Work with marketing on digital toolkits for business partners
    • Manage all customer administrative requirements
    • Keep customer receivables current and conduct collection activities as needed
    • Present new products, sales programs and P.O.S. materials and sales ideas to customers
    • Monitor customer pricing and recommend pricing updates when appropriate
    • Monitor cost to serve and find ways to maximize profitability without jeopardizing top line sales
    • Solve customer problems in relation to our products, deliveries, customer service and/or invoicing
    • Act as liaison between the customer and our internal departments
    • Maintain updated customer information files
    • Update the Sales Pipeline Tool monthly
    • Quarterly update on Sales Plan goals

    Job Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related area with 7+ years of retail sales experience at major CPG or broker
    • Must have strong customer relationships within retail channel developed through a consultative sales approach
    • Proven track record of value add through revenue growth or margin enhancement
    • Experience using analytical platforms such as IRI or Nielsen to support sales.  Strong financial acumen and attention to detail required.
    • Cross-functional team collaboration and strong leadership skills required.
    • Ability to travel up to 20-30% of the time.  Work location is ideally in Ohio but flexible for the right profile.
