Exciting opportunity for a Controller to be responsible for oversight of key accounting functions and providing financial guidance and support for the Retail Division of a feed and grain business in the Central Valley.
Work as a business partner for the division you are representing. Learn the business so you are an effective partner.
Ensure that the monthly financials are accurately reporting using GAAP guidelines.
Identify the key operating metrics with the help of the Division Director.
Build or create an approach to deliver transparent key operating metrics reporting in an appropriate amount of time (ex. real-time, daily, weekly, and monthly).
Work hands on with each manager within the Business Division to help them understand their financial performance and metrics.
Help to drive the annual budgeting process for your division. Work with the corporate group to ensure budget continuity in approach and timing throughout the organization.
Identify opportunities for improvement in the business performance.
Help in enterprise wide system improvements, testing, and implementation as needed.
Perform month-end financial close responsibilities as assigned.
Help with external audits as needed and assigned including the annual financial audit.
Be a key team member of the accounting team.
Manage one or more exempt or non-exempt employees.
Perform ad hoc reporting on a routine basis.
Analyze data on your own and determine issues, patterns, and opportunities.
Communicate areas of business risk or concern to the appropriate people.
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting, or an equivalent
Minimum of 5 years of recent public or private accounting experience required; professional auditing experience desired.
Full understanding of GAAP with working knowledge of financial statements, how they intertwine, and why each is important.
